It has been decided to recall some 2017-2019 imported Beetle series cars produced between July 6, 2016 and September 15, 2018, with immediate effect, a total of 16,202 vehicles.

Reason for recall

The driver's front airbag of the vehicles within the scope of this recall is equipped with a desiccant ammonium nitrate gas generator produced by Takata. After the vehicle has been used for a long time, if the driver's frontal airbag is triggered and deployed in a collision, the gas generator may be abnormally damaged, causing debris to fly out and injure people in the vehicle, posing a safety hazard.

Recall measures

Volkswagen (China) Sales Co., Ltd. will entrust authorized dealers to replace vehicles within the recall scope with improved driver front airbags free of charge to eliminate safety hazards.
